JAM SQUARES 
2 c. Quaker oats (quick or old-fashioned, uncooked)
1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. butter
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. chopped nuts (pecans)
1 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. preserves

Combine all ingredients except preserves in large mixing bowl; beat at low speed on electric mixer until mixture is crumbly. Reserve 2 cups mixture; press remaining onto bottom of greased 9x13 inch baking pan. Spread preserves evenly over base; sprinkle with reserved mixture. Bake in preheated hot 400 degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool; cut into squares.
