1 pkg. German Chocolate cake mix 1 1/2 sticks butter (3/4 c.) 1 c. nuts (optional) 1 pkg. caramels 1 sm. can evaporated milk 1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips Mix together cake mix, softened butter and 1/3 cup milk. Spread 1/2 of this in a slightly greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes. Sprinkle chips and nuts on top of partially baked cake mixture. Melt caramels with remaining milk and drizzle over chips and nuts. Crumble and pat the remaining cake mixture on top. Bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees. VARIATION: Caramel Chocolate Bars - decrease butter to 1/2 cup. |
