1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
1 c. applesauce
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream sugar and shortening. Add egg; mix well. Stir in applesauce. Combine flour, spices and salt together; add to applesauce mixture. Pour into paper lined or greased cupcake tins. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
