WILMA'S BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
1 gallon cucumbers, sliced
8 sm. onions, sliced
2 green peppers, chopped
1/2 c. salt

Put cucumbers, onions and peppers in large bowl. Add salt and cover with ice cubes. Let stand 3 hours or longer.

Mix:

5 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
2 tsp. mustard seed
5 c. vinegar
1/2 tsp. alum
1 tbsp. celery seed

Bring solution to boil then add well drained cucumbers, onions and peppers and heat to boiling point. Seal immediately. 10 pints.
