ABERNATHY BISCUITS 
1/2 tsp. grated lemon rind
1 tbsp. lemon juice or milk
1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 beaten egg
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. caraway seeds

Sift flour, baking powder and sugar into a bowl. Cut in butter until mixture is like coarse meal. Add caraway seeds, beaten egg, rind and juice. Mix into a stiff dough. You may have to use your hands. Turn out on a lightly floured board. Roll out thinly. Cut into rounds 2" to 3" in diameter. Prick each with a fork. Bake on cookie sheet at 375 degrees for 7 to 10 minutes. Makes about 60.
