SQUASH AND APPLE SCALLOP 
1 med. butternut squash
1 c. boiling water
1 tsp. salt
2 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
2 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. corn syrup
2 tsp. grated orange rind
2 tbsp. orange juice

Peel squash and cut in slicer; place in pan with water and salt. Cover and cook for 15 minutes, drain. Layer squash and apple slices in a 1 quart greased casserole. Combine sugar, corn syrup, orange juice, rind, pour over squash and apples. Dot with butter. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes, or until apples are tender.
