BREAD PUDDING 
2 c. dry bread crumbs
4 c. milk, scalded
1 tbsp. butter
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. sugar
4 slightly beaten eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. seeded raisins

Soak bread in milk 5 minutes. Add butter, salt and sugar. Pour slowly over eggs. Add vanilla and mix well. Pour into greased baking dish. Bake in pan of hot water in moderate oven at 350 degrees until firm, about 50 minutes. Serve warm with lemon sauce.

LEMON SAUCE FOR BREAD PUDDING:

1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1/8 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. boiling water
2 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 tbsp. lemon juice

Mix sugar, cornstarch, salt and nutmeg. Gradually add water and cook over low heat until thick and clear. Add butter and lemon juice. Heat thoroughly.
