DATE-NUT ROLL COOKIES 
1/2 lb. chopped dates
1/3 c. water
1/4 c. sugar
1 1/4 c. chopped nuts

Cook dates, water and sugar 5 minutes. Add nuts.

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1 egg, well beaten
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and sugars. Add remaining ingredients. Roll out dough and chill. Spread filling on dough and roll like a jelly roll. Wrap in waxed paper and freeze. Slice while frozen and bake in 375 degree oven until light brown.
