COLD OVEN POUND CAKE 
1 stick butter
1/2 c. Crisco shortening
1 tsp. lemon extract
3 c. sifted flour
1 c. skim milk
1 stick butter
3 c. sugar
5 eggs
1/2 tsp. baking powder

"COLD OVEN"

Cream butter, butter, Crisco, sugar and lemon extract. Add eggs, one at a time. Add flour, baking powder and skim milk. Mix well. Pour into a tube cake pan that has been greased and floured. Put in "cold oven". (Do not preheat oven.) Turn oven temperature to 300 degrees F. Bake for 1 1/2 hours. Do not peek. Remove from oven. Test by inserting toothpick in center. If cake is not done, return it to oven for 10 more minutes and retest.
