JENNNIE'S DATE FILLED COOKIES 
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. butter
2 c. quick oatmeal
1 tsp. baking soda in 1/2 c. sour cream
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream sugar and shortening. Add oatmeal, then sour cream with soda. Work in flour and salt (sifted together). Let stand in refrigerator until cold. Roll out thin and cut with cookie cutter. Bake at 350 degrees about 10 minutes. Put two cookies together with date filling.

FILLING:

1 pkg. dates, cut up
1/2 c. sugar
3/4 c. water

Cook until smooth.

For a crisper cookie, keep filling in covered container in refrigerator. Fill cookies as needed.
