OYSTER PUDDING | |
6 slices white bread 3 tbsp. butter 4 oz. sliced sharp cheese, American 1 pt. oysters with liquid 1/4 tsp. pepper 1 tsp. salt 3 c. milk 2 slightly beaten eggs Spread bread with butter on both sides, cut in cubes. Place half the cubes in bottom of 11 x 7 x 1 1/2 inch baking dish. Arrange cheese over. Add oysters and liquid; top with remaining bread cubes. Combine eggs, milk, salt and pepper; pour over all. Bake at 325 for 1 1/4 hours or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Serves 4-6. |
