DATE FUDGE BARS
1 c. butter
1 lb. box light brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
4 eggs
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 to 2 c. any or all: Nuts, raisins, dates, chocolate chips, coconut
Note: We use 1 c. chocolate chips, heaping 1/2 cup chopped dates, heaping 1/2 c. chopped pecans

Cream butter (room temperature) and sugars with one egg until smooth. Add remaining eggs one at a time. Stir well. Stir baking powder into measured flour. Add gradually to batter. Stir until flour is mixed well and batter is smooth.

Add remaining ingredients. If using dates, sprinkle with a little flour. Pour into a greased and floured pan (9 x 13) and bake in preheated 350 degree oven for about 30 minutes. If using glass pan, bake at 325 degrees for 40 minutes until brown. While warm, sprinkle with confectioners' sugar. Cut into bars. Store in airtight container.
