BROWN 'N SERVE ROLLS 
1 pkg. yeast
3/4 c. warm water
3/4 c. warm milk, scalded then cooled
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. shortening
4 1/2 c. flour
2 1/4 tsp. salt

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in milk, sugar, salt, shortening and half the flour. Stir in remaining flour. Turn on lightly floured board and knead until smooth and elastic. Place in greased bowl; cover; let rise in warm place until double.

Punch down; turn onto lightly floured board and form into 24 rolls and place in greased pans. Cover and let rise until double.

Bake at 275 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes. Remove from pans and allow to cool. Wrap in plastic wrap or foil. Store in refrigerator or freezer. When ready to serve, brown at 400 degrees for 7 to 10 minutes. (Thaw frozen rolls to room temperature first.)
