MICROWAVE BROWNIES
1/2 c. butter
1 (1 oz.) square unsweetened chocolate
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/3 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. unsifted flour

Combine butter and chocolate in 1-quart glass Mix 'n Pour bowl. Microwave on high uncovered 1 1/2 to 2 minutes or until chocolate is almost melted; stirring once. Blend sugar thoroughly. Beat in egg; blend in vanilla. Add dry ingredients and nuts; stir until blended. Spoon into 7-inch square plastic pan; spread evenly. Microwave, uncovered, 4 to 4 1/2 minutes or until no longer doughy, rotating pan once or twice. Do not over cook. Cool, cut into squares.

TIPS: If desired, cool and frost with favorite frosting. I sprinkle Hershey's milk chocolate chips on top while hot, when softened, gently spread. If desired, stir in 1/4 cup miniature chocolate chips with the flour and nuts. If you must use an 8-inch square glass baking dish, place dish on overturned saucer in the oven.

Increase time to 5 to 5 1/2 minutes. I make this often. Simple, quick, small and good. I use the plastic pan as I tried the microwave brownies when they first came out and saved the pan. 16 squares, 135 calories each.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
