KATY'S CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
1 c. butter, softened
3/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. light brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 1/4 c. unsifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. chocolate chips
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Cream butter, sugars, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add eggs; beat well. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture. Beat well. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop by rounded teaspoonful onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes until lightly browned. Cool slightly before removing from cookie sheet.
