BEST - EVER CHOCOLATE CHIP
COOKIE
 
2/3 c. shortening
2/3 c. butter, softened
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 2/3 c. flour
1 c. oatmeal
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. chopped pecans
1 c. chocolate chips (or 1/2 c. M&M'S®)

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix thoroughly: shortening, butter, sugars, eggs and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients. Drop dough 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 minutes. Makes about 6 dozen.

Note: At 10 minutes cookies will be puffy and appear to be undercooked. Remove them anyway, and allow them to set on cookie sheet for about 5 minutes and cookies will be wonderfully chewy.
