BREAKFAST COFFEE CAKE 
1 1/2 c. flour
1/4 c. sugar
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. shortening
3/4 c. milk
1 egg
1/3 c. chopped nuts
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. cherry preserves

Blend flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, shortening, milk and egg with fork. Put in grease 9"x9" pan. Mix nuts, brown sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle over batter. Drop preserves by spoonfuls. Bake 25 to 30 minutes in 375 degree oven. Combine 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla and about 1 1/2 teaspoons water. Drizzle over warm coffee cake.
