OLD FASHIONED BUTTERMILK POUND CAKE | |
1/2 c. butter, softened 1/2 c. shortening 2 c. sugar 4 eggs 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 c. buttermilk 3 c. all purpose flour 1/8 tsp. salt 2 tsp. lemon extract 1 tsp. almond extract Cream butter and shortening; gradually add sugar; beat well at medium speed of electric mixer. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after adding each. Dissolve soda in buttermilk. Combine flour and salt; add to creamed mixture alternating with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix just until blended after each addition. Stir in flavoring. Pour mixture into greased and floured 10" tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until done. Cool in pan for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove from pan. Cool completely on wire rack. |
