STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE 
2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
2 tbsp. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. butter
1 egg, beaten
2/3 c. light cream
3-4 c. sugared sliced strawberries
1 c. whipping cream, whipped

Sift together dry ingredients; cut in butter until like coarse crumbs. Combine egg and the light cream. Add all at once, stirring just enough to moisten. Spread dough in greased 8" x 1 1/2" round layer pan, building up edges slightly. Bake at 450 degrees for 15 to 18 minutes. Remove from pan, cool. Split in 2 layers. Lift top off carefully, butter bottom layer. Spoon berries and the whipped cream between layers and on top.
