GRANNIES AWESOME CHOCOLATE CAKE 
1 3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vinegar
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
pinch of salt
3 heaping tbsp. cocoa, sifted
2 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. boiling water

Cream sugar and shortening. In separate bowl mix milk with 1 teaspoon vinegar to sour. Add eggs to sugar mixture. Add baking soda to soured milk and add to above mixture. Add salt, cocoa and flour; mix well. Add vanilla and boiling water. Mix well and pour into a 9x13-inch greased and floured cake pan. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.

Frosting:

1 1/2 c. confectioners' sugar
1 tbsp. shortening
1 egg white
1 tsp. vanilla

Beat until creamy. Add some milk if too thick. Frost cake when cool.
