DANISH PASTRY APPLE BARS 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
1 egg yolk
1 c. corn flakes
8-10 tart apples, sliced
3/4 to 1 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 egg white

Combine flour and salt. Cut in shortening. Beat egg yolk in cup and add enough milk to make 2/3 cup liquid. Mix well and stir in flour mixture. Roll half on floured board to 17x12. Set onto a 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 inch pan.

Sprinkle top with corn flakes and top with apple slices.

Combine sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle on top.

Roll out remaining dough and put on top. Seal edges and make slits in top. Beat egg whites until foamy. Brush on crust.

Combine confectioners' sugar and milk and drizzle on top.

Bake 375 degrees 50 minutes.
