SPANISH FRIENDSHIP BREAD | |
1 c. sugar 1 c. flour 1 c. milk Day 1: Mix starter ingredients together with wooden spoon in non-metal bowl with lid; let stand on counter (non-refrigerated), covered. Day 2, 3, 4: Stir with wooden spoon. Day 5: Add 1 cup sugar, 1 cup flour and 1 cup milk; stir. Day 6, 7, 8, 9: Stir with wooden spoon. Day 10: Add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar and 1 cup milk; stir. Pour into 3 containers, 1 cup each, and give to 3 friends. Add to remaining batch: 2/3 cup oil, 2 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, 3 eggs, 1-2 teaspoons cinnamon, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon baking soda. You may add candied fruit, nuts, raisins or chocolate chips. Pour into 2 well greased and well sugared loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes. Cool 10 minutes before removing from pans. If you already have starter given to you by a friend, just let stand, covered, overnight, see Day 2. |
