VEGETABLE BEEF SOUP 
1 1/2 pounds lean beef stew meat
15 ounce can tomato sauce
15 ounce can stewed tomatoes
2 packages onion soup mix
5 cups water
1 1/2 cups diced carrots
3 bay leaves
1 tablespoon basil leaves
1 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped onions
1 1/2 cups diced potatoes
1 can diced beets (not drained)
1/2 cup diced rutabagas
1 tablespoon granulated garlic
2 teaspoons black pepper

In large dutch water, seasonings and beef. Cook until beef is done but still firm. Add remainder of ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce to low heat and simmer for 1 hour. Serve hot.
