1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
pinch of salt

Combine sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla. Add rest of dry ingredients. Form into balls and roll in sugar. Grease cookie sheet and put a ball at time on sheet and take the bottom of a glass and press dough flat.

Bake at 350°F for 15 to 20 minutes. The cookies are crisp and tasty.
