DILL PICKLES 
2 c. vinegar
4 c. water
1/2 c. plain salt
1 tsp. alum
2 heads dill
Red pepper
2 bulbs garlic

Mix vinegar, water, plain salt, alum and dill; bring to a boil. Put cucumbers in hot mix. Put dill, red pepper and garlic in jar. Add cucumbers from hot mix; pour hot mixture in jar and seal. Makes 4 quarts.
