FIRESIDE BEEF STEW 
This tasty dish uses less sugar, salt and fat. Recipe includes Diabetic Exchanges.

2 lbs. lean beef chuck or round steak, cut into 1 1/2 inch pieces
1 tbsp. browning sauce
1/4 c. dry cream of rice cereal
4 carrots, cut into 1 1/2 inch chunks
2 c. onion, thinly sliced
1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 to 1 tsp. dried marjoram, crushed
1/2 to 1 tsp. dried thyme, crushed
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 c. dry red wine or beef broth
1 (4.5 oz.) jar button mushrooms, undrained
