EASY PRALINES 
1 c. packed brown sugar (dark or light)
1 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. evaporated milk
1 stick butter
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 heaping c. pecans (halves & chopped)

Place all ingredients in sauce pot but pecans. Bring to medium boil until mixture sample forms soft ball in water. Remove from heat, add pecans. Stir until thickness desired. Spoon out on wax paper. Makes 15 to 20.

NOTE: Before spoon pralines onto wax paper, be certain folded newspaper, etc. is under wax paper, this prevents pralines from breaking up when removing them. Cool thoroughly and store in covered container in cool area.

I've tried a lot of recipes, and this one never fails. I don't use a candy thermometer. The soft ball method will never let you down.
