SOFT RAISIN COOKIES 
3 c. seedless raisins
1 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. ginger

Boil these in saucepan with water to cover over 1". Cook 20 minutes or until water is level with raisins. Cream 1/2 cup shortening with 1 1/2 cups sugar. Add 2 beaten eggs. Then add the above mixture. Add 3 1/2 cups flour. Last add 2 teaspoons soda and 1 teaspoon salt. Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes. Makes 48 large cookies.
