SNICKER DOODLES 
1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Sift flour, cream of tartar, soda, and salt. Add to creamed mixture; mix well. Chill dough for 1 hour. Roll into 1 inch balls. Roll top of each ball in a mixture of 2 teaspoons sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Makes 5 dozen cookies.
