PICNIC CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 c. milk

Measure and sift dry ingredients. Cream shortening. Add sugar gradually. Cream well. Drop in eggs, one at a time and beat well. Add vanilla. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk. Bake in 9"x13" floured pan. Push halved marshmallows into top. Put 1/2 cup nuts and 1/2 cup brown sugar sprinkled on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes.
