1/2 lbs. sirloin steak, cut in thin slices 2 tbsp. vegetable oil 1/2 c. sugar 3/4 c. soy sauce 1/4 c. water 1 beef bouillon cube 2 med. onions, sliced thin 1 green pepper, sliced thin 1 c. celery, cut in 1 inch strips 1 (10 oz.) can bamboo shoots, sliced 1 can bean sprouts 1 sm. can mushrooms 2 c. fresh spinach 1 bunch green onions, sliced lengthwise Heat oil in heavy skillet. Brown meat lightly, remove and set aside. Mix sugar and soy sauce. Mix hot water with the bouillon cube until dissolved and add to sugar-soy sauce mixture. Add to meat juices in skillet. Add medium onions, green peppers, celery, bamboo shoots, mushrooms and bean sprouts and fresh spinach. Cook over low heat for 10 minutes. Add green onions and meat and cook for two minutes more. Serve over rice. Serves 4 to 6. |
