CHOCOLATE CHIP ANGEL COOKIES 
2 c. sifted all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. liquid vegetable shortening
1/2 c. lightly packed light brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. nuts, optional
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
Sugar

Combine flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt. Beat butter and shortening and sugars. Add egg and beat. Add vanilla. Add flour mix and blend. Add chips and nuts. Roll dough into balls and roll in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 15 minutes or until firm.
