1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar

Blend. Add:

1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla

Blend in 2 1/2 cups flour. Chill 2 to 3 hours and roll out on floured board and cut with cutters. Bake 5 to 8 minutes at 375 degrees. Cool and ice.
