BLACK WALNUT LOAF 
1 lb. dates, cut up
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. boiling water
2 c. white sugar
2 eggs
3 c. flour
3 tbsp. butter, melted
2 c. black walnuts, chopped
1 tsp. vanilla

Sprinkle 2 teaspoons soda over dates. Add 2 cups boiling water; let cool. Add sugar, eggs, flour, butter, black walnuts and vanilla. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees.
