1 chicken, cut up 2 tsp. salt 3 celery stalks 1 med. onion, cut up 7 tbsp. flour Biscuits BISCUITS: 1 c. flour 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 5 tbsp. shortening 5 tbsp. milk Put chicken in kettle; cover with water. Add celery, onions, and salt. Boil, turn down and simmer until tender. Remove chicken and cool. Save broth. Remove bones and put chicken in casserole, strain broth. Mix flour with water to make thin paste. Stir in 3 1/4 cups broth and pour over chicken. Cover with biscuits and bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes. BISCUITS: Mix dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening, add milk. Pat out on floured board. Cut into biscuits and place on top of chicken. Place in oven. |
