BUTTERMILK BROWNIES 
2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 stick butter
1 c. water
1/2 c. cocoa
1/2 c. Crisco
1/2 c. buttermilk
2 eggs
1 scant tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix the 2 cups flour, sugar, and salt and set aside. Boil butter, water, cocoa, and Crisco and pour over the flour, sugar and salt mix. Add the buttermilk, eggs, soda and vanilla, mix together.

Grease and flour 11 x 16 x 1 pan. Pour mixture into pan and bake at 350 degrees for approximately 22 minutes.

FROSTING:

1 stick butter
1/4 c. cocoa
1/3 plus 1 tsp. buttermilk
1 pkg. powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Bring to a boil the butter, cocoa, buttermilk. Add the powdered sugar, vanilla and a pinch of salt. Optional; 1/2 cup chopped pecans and 1/2 cup coconut.
