CHEESY BREAD STICKS | |
2 pkgs. active dry yeast 1 tbsp. sugar 1 1/2 c. warm water (110 degrees) 1/4 c. oil 1/2 c. shredded cheese 3 - 3 1/2 c. flour 2 tsp. salt 1 beaten egg white with 1 tbsp. water Dissolve yeast with sugar in warm water. Let stand 5 minutes. Add oil and cheese. Stir in 1 cup of flour and salt; mix well. Add remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until dough is spongy. Knead on lightly floured surface until dough is smooth. Cover. Let rest 5 minutes. Shape dough into a 18" roll. Cut into 1" pieces. Let dough rest another 5 minutes. Roll each piece into bread stick. Brush with egg mixture. Place on greased baking sheet about 1" apart. Sprinkle with salt. Let rise about 30 minutes until puffy. Bake at 300 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Makes 18 sticks. |
