AUNT JANETT'S CHOCOLATE CAKE 
CAKE:

2 c. cake flour
2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. water
1 tsp. vanilla
4 sq. unsweetened chocolate
3/4 c. buttermilk
2 eggs

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, soda and salt. Add shortening, water and vanilla. Beat 2 minutes. Add chocolate, buttermilk and eggs. Beat 2 minutes longer. Bake 30-35 minutes.

SOUR CREAM FROSTING:

2 1/2 c. sifted confectioners sugar
3/4 c. cake flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. soft butter
2 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. sour cream

Mix all ingredients until smooth. If necessary, stir in 1 to 2 tablespoon sour cream until frosting is of spreading consistency.

Reserve 1/2 cup frosting. To remaining, add 1 unsweetened chocolate square, melted. Fill layers with reserved frosting. Frost top and sides with chocolate frosting.
