OVEN-BAKED FRENCH TOAST, THE ABBEY | |
1 loaf French bread 1 c. light brown sugar 1/2 c. butter 2 tsp. corn syrup 6 eggs 2 c. milk 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla Grease a 9"x13" baking dish. Slice bread 1/2" to 3/4" thick. Place sugar, butter and corn syrup in small pan and cook until syrupy. Pour sugar syrup into greased baking dish. Arrange bread in pan over syrup mixture. Beat together the eggs, milk and vanilla; pour over bread. Cover pan and refrigerate overnight. To Serve: Bake, uncovered at 325 degrees for 30 minutes. Serve with bacon or sausages. Makes 8 servings. |
