BROWN SUGAR SYRUP 
1 lb. light brown sugar
1 1/2 c. water
1/2 tsp. maple flavor

Mix brown sugar and water in saucepan. Bring to boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat and simmer about 3 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in maple flavoring. Use hot or cold oven pancakes, waffles, ice cream or French toast. Store in the refrigerator vanilla flavor. Add pinch of salt while cooking. Substitute 1/2 teaspoon vanilla for maple flavor. For golden brown syrup, omit the flavoring.
