JOE'S CUSTARD CHIFFON CAKE | |
3/4 c. "scalded" milk 7 egg yolks, beaten (Do not boil.) 1 tsp. salt 1/2 c. salad oil 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar 1 1/2 c. sugar 3 tsp. baking powder 2 tsp. vanilla 1 c. egg whites Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Make a well and add, in order, salad oil and vanilla. Then add egg mixture. Beat at medium speed one minute. Mix egg whites and cream of tartar. Beat until stiff. Pour batter over egg whites, fold in carefully. Use angel food pan. Heat oven to 325 degrees. Bake 55 minutes then to 350 degrees for 10 minutes. |
