FLAKY APPLE SQUARES 
6 to 8 med. apples, peeled sliced thin
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. salt

Mix and let stand while preparing crust.

CRUST:

2 1/2 c. all purpose flour
1 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
2 egg yolks (beaten) and enough milk to equal 2/3 c. liquid
OR USE YOUR FAVORITE CRUST RECIPE
1 c. crushed corn flakes

Cut shortening into flour and salt. Add liquid, mix well. Roll half of dough into 9 x 13 inch jelly roll pan. Sprinkle with crushed CORN FLAKES. Add apple mixture.

Cover with remaining rolled dough. Seal edges. Slit to allow steam escape. Beat egg whites until frothy. Spread over top crust. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes.

WHITE STILL WARM: Drizzle thin powdered sugar icing on top. Serve with ice cream/cheese.
