2 1/2 c. sifted cake flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. cocoa
2 eggs, separated
1 1/2 c. milk
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. shortening, melted

Mix dry ingredients; combine all beaten egg yolks, milk, and vanilla. Add to flour mixture, beating until smooth. Add shortening and fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
