SPICY PRUNE CAKE 
1 c. vegetable oil
3 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. each cinnamon, nutmeg & allspice
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. chopped pecans
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 c. all-purpose sifted flour
1 tsp. each baking powder & soda
1 1/2 c. cooked & mashed prunes

Cream oil and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift together dry ingredients. Add alternately to creamed mixture with buttermilk and prunes. Stir in pecans. Pour into greased and floured pan. Bake in a 350 degree oven. Remove from pan and pour glaze over cake while hot (9"x13"x2" pan, bake 30 to 35 minutes, tube pan 50 to 60 minutes).

GLAZE:

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. white syrup
1/2 c. butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Combine in a saucepan. Bring to a rolling boil over low heat and boil for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Punch holes in cake and pour glaze over cake immediately. Cake should be hot when glaze is added.
