DATE SWIRL COOKIES 
FILLING:

1 (8 oz.) pkg. chopped dates
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. water

Cook filling over low heat until dates are softened. Let cool.

COOKIE DOUGH:

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1 egg

2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt

Add to egg mixture mixing well.

On lightly floured surface, roll dough to 10 x 14 inch rectangle. Spread date mixture on dough - roll up form long end. Wrap in wax paper and chill in refrigerator. Cut into 1/4 inch slices. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 350 degrees for 12-14 minutes. Do not over bake!
