CHOCOLATE CHIP MERINGUE BARS | |
2 egg whites 1 c. brown sugar Beat egg whites together until stiff, gradually add brown sugar and set aside. 1/2 c. white sugar 1 c. shortening 2 egg yolks 1 tbsp. water 1 tsp. vanilla 2 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. baking soda Cream shortening and sugars, then yolks, water and vanilla. Mix dry ingredients together and add to shortening mix. Spread in greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Cover with chocolate chips. Carefully cover with meringue topping. Bake 25 minutes at 325 degrees. |
