1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 c. applesauce
1 c. raisins
2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream sugar and shortening. Add egg. Stir in applesauce. Sift dry ingredients together and add to mixture, blending well. Add raisins. Pour into greased and floured large loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.

This can be baked in small individual loaf pans for 30 minutes or layer pans for 40-45 minutes.
