DOG BISCUITS 
1 c. flour
1 c. whole wheat flour
1/2 c. wheat germ
1/2 c. powdered dry milk
1/2 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. bacon fat or butter
1 egg
1 tsp. brown sugar
1/2 c. water

Mix first 5 ingredients in bowl. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles corn meal. Beat egg and brown sugar and add to dry ingredients. Add water to make a stiff dough. Knead on floured surface until smooth and pliable. Roll out on floured surface to 1/2 inch thickness.

Cut out with small cookie cutters or dog bone cutter. Bake on greased cookie sheets at 325 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Biscuits can be placed close together on sheets since they do not spread while baking. To harden them even more, leave them in oven after turning off the heat for another 20 minutes after baking.
