1 ham hock
1 box frozen or freshly ground kale
Several sm. potatoes
1 lg. onion, chopped
2-3 tbsp. barley
2-3 carrots, cut fine

Boil the ham hock for about 1 hour. Add the other ingredients and cook about 1 more hour.
