DATE CANDY LOAF 
3 c. sugar
1 c. canned milk
1 pkg. pitted dates
1 c. pecans
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Cook sugar and canned milk together until it is 236 degrees or soft ball stage. Add chopped dates and continue cooking slowly for 5 minutes. Remove from heat, add nuts, salt and vanilla. Cook a few minutes then beat until it thickens. Form in a roll in damp cloth. Chill and slice.
